ABOUT ME

M.C. Foster has been making up stories for as long as she can remember, entertaining her primary school teachers and friends with rather cringe-worthy sagas about shapeshifting tigers, brave women and quests of adventure - now mercifully lost to the world.

In the mid-1990s, she earned a B.A. in English Literature and Linguistics, then a B.A.(Hons) in Linguistics, partly out of a fascination with language and a tutor who said "If you enjoy Tolkien, you'll enjoy linguistics," which turned out to be true.  Since then, she has worked as an English teacher, then as a copyeditor, proofreader and writer-for-hire, mostly for academics.

M.C. Foster is inspired by her faith, classic fantasy works by a range of authors from C.S. Lewis to Mercedes Lackey, and the scenery of the South Island of New Zealand, as showcased in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

M.C. Foster currently lives in Southland, New Zealand, with her husband, a wimpy dog, four chickens and a cat who thinks she's a tiger.  When she's not busy on the computer, she can be found doing things with yarn, exploring some of the nearby walking tracks and growing organic vegetables.
